| I was thinking the other day about all those great kids from lenexa. and I thought it sure would be nice to know how they're all doing and what not. that thought was followed by a reminder, by the realist in me, of how many there are of you and could one possibly write/call/see all of them...well I guess not, not very readily anyway. then I remembered this wonderful xanga invention and for the first time was slightly thankful for it, because it allows an excellent venue for spreading the word. what I mean is, this little fad could have totally died out and one person might look on it next week and says, "hey jacob wrote something about getting in touch with people...you should email him and tell him how your doing. I did it and you could too, because he really would like to get an update." and he does...I do. So let me know. I pray that you are all doing well and thriving and striving in your faith, that Jesus is turning the world you know upside down on its head and saying to you this is really what it looks like and doesn't it make so much more sense this way. so spread the word, and email me if you have a minute. I release you from any further commitment. thanks. bices310@yahoo.com. grace and peace. Jacob | | |
| I realize I'm a slacker when it comes to this whole xanga thing. It's not completely from laziness though. I'm just kind of tired of it. I gave it an honest attempt, but I think I'm throwing in the towel. Please though, no tears. I leave an open invitation to you to email me if you want to hear some of my ramblings, and I'll send them directly to you. Jacob@lenexabaptist.com. Peace | | |
| do you guys remember rodney king...l.a. riots...police brutality? he asked "why can't we all just get along?" today i echo rodney king's query, but not rhetorically. if you know why let me know. oh wait i think i know...but i won't ruin it for you. i'd like to know what you think. | | |
| everyone's back to school. well not "everyone" because everyone doesn't go to school and i'm sure there are some people that haven't actually gone back yet, but most everyone is back to school...how's that. morgan and i went to gore (that's in oklahoma) last weekend. it was a good trip, sobering, but good. there's much to be said about it, but not here. it is good to be back and i look forward to seeing all of you guys. i'm really excited to see what this school year has in store for you. i think about it and pray for you often. the realization comes to me that some of you will "fall off" meaning you'll make bad decisions and maybed get detoured from your christian walk over the school year. that's just life i suppose, but i'm praying earnestly for you. however, i realize you too have a decision to make in the whole process. will you stand strong, growing in your faith, or will you comprimise? before i sound too negative i need to say i understand too, and am hopefull that many, and most of you, will grow in your faith. this is my prayer: that you grow to be strong, into powerful men and women of the faith. your life is a battleground, don't forget that. there are so many people that don't share the hope that you have, and there are forces of evil that not only "don't share" the hope but are catagorically opposed to it. you must fight...you must be strong. i want to help you any way i can, so please don't hesitate to call or come see me if there's anything i can do. "finally be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might." grace and peace. jacob | | |
| "if anyone would come after me he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me, because whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. what good is it to gain the world, but lose your soul?"
